Peter Kaplan grew up in an entrepreneurial family with a father who ran a successful business as a mechanical contractor, was extremely talented and very good at what he did. This led Pete to an entrepreneurial career path also and the financial lessons he learned from his father brought him to the financial industry to make a difference in people’s lives.
Believing the financial services business is not only about managing finances but managing expectations, Peter works to help people make good quality decisions, to be their confidant and sounding board. He says while there are a lot of very successful individuals in this world many don't have the time to properly manage their finances and need a third-party to help them make better decisions from what he calls a 40,000-foot view, rather than a perspective based on being knee-deep in it. Peter believes his business is an art, a craft, and a science that combines listening to and understanding a client’s story, and then helping them refine and move that story forward.
In simple terms, Peter says he often saves his clients from themselves. Acting as a behavioral coach, he strives to help them make good investment decisions, and good lifetime decisions, that includes the allocation of their assets and investing for retirement. Working with clients from the accumulation phase of their life, starting in their younger years, supporting them all the way through their decumulation phase of life into their retirement years and beyond, Peter and his team are holistic wealth managers and holistic wealth planners.
Peter graduated from Kent State University in 1995, with a Bachelor of Science in business management, and a core study in finance. He holds the certified 401(k) professional designation; a fiduciary designation; and holds series 7, series 63, series 66, life, health, and variable annuity licenses. He started his career in 1996 at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, training at the World Trade Center headquarters in New York City on Wall Street. Peter was one of the top five investment advisors to finish his class out of about 150 advisors nationally. He is currently one of the top producers at SagePoint Financial, Inc., and in the top 5% of advisory firms with SagePoint Financial, Inc.
Married with three children, aged 18, soon to be 12, and 9, Peter very much enjoys being involved in the kids’ activities and their sporting events. An athlete growing up, he has enjoyed time watching his children succeed in their pursuits including his sons in their wrestling, track and cross country and with his daughter in her dance and theater activities. As a family, they have a goal to travel to a new destination as a family, every year and have created many memories. The family also maintains a tradition of Sunday dinners together, making homemade pasta and spaghetti sauce based on recipes passed down through two generations. Peter also enjoys golfing, spending time with close friends, playing cards, and being outdoors in the summer. He hopes one day to see his Cleveland Browns go to the Super Bowl, and has promised his family that when that happens, he will make sure they all attend.
